TERMS & CONDITIONS

RATES
Please email or call our office to receive current hire rates. All rates quoted will include G.S.T. A 25% deposit is required at time of booking to secure travel dates and 50% in the high peak season. A $600 security bond is required, the bond is held for 10 days upon return of the van. All caravans are fully comprehensively insured. An insurance excess of $500 applies should an incident occur and is payable by the hiree to Nielsens Hire & Sales.

PAYMENTS
The total hire is to be paid on departure. We accept cash, EFTPOS, Visa or Mastercard.
A $2 fee will be charged for any credit card transactions upto the amount of $1500. Above $1500 transaction a 1% fee is charged on the total balance excluding the bond.

CANCELLATIONS
Deposits are non refundable, however can be carried forward toward an alternative booking date within 12 months of cancellation. Early returns for whatever reason are non refundable.

HIRE PERIODS
Our minimum hire period is a Weekend Package running from Friday to Monday in the off peak season and 1 week hire in the high peak season.
A $45 surcharge fee applies for pickups or drop-offs on Sundays.

CLEANING
The hire van is to be returned in a clean & tidy condition, with the stovetop wiped, fridge cleaned, cupboards wiped out and floor swept. If the van is not cleaned to a satisfactory condition, a cleaning fee will be deducted from your bond at a charge of $60 to a maximum of $110. (Nielsens Hire & Sales reserves the right to deduct the relevant cleaning fee from the bond if deemed necessary).
Note: Glass top on stove is not to be used as a cutting board.

SMOKING
Smoking is not permitted in the vans. Van must not be subjected to camp fire smoke.

PETS
Pets are not permitted inside van.

LATE RETURNS
Late returns are charged at $220 per day and or loss of bond unless previously arranged and agreed by both the hirer and hiree 48 hours prior to completion of hire period.

BREAKDOWN OR ACCIDENTS
If breakdown or accident should occur, notify the hirer (Nielsens Hire & Sales). It is the hires responsibility to report any accident or incident to the police and obtain a full report. This includes theft of the van. If there is an accident involving any other vehicle the hiree must obtain the following details:
Make and model of other vehicles involved.
The full name and address and drivers license number of persons involved.
Name and address of any witness present.

Any malicious damage to the van caused by the hiree shall be repaired at the hirees expense. This includes any fees incurred by the hirer (Nielsens Hire & Sales) whilst recovering monies for either replacement or repair of damage caused by the hiree.

The hiree agrees that the hirer (Nielsens Hire & Sales) shall not be held accountable for any damages to persons and/or property in regards to the hirees use of the van.

DAMAGE DURING HIRE PERIOD
Any damage done by the hiree must be paid for. Except for normal wear and tear. Tyres, punctured, blown or shredded, are to be replaced prior to returning. Retread or recap tyres are not acceptable. Vinyl flooring is easily damaged. Care must be taken when packing, so that items are not rubbing on the timber work or sliding on the floor. Any items broken can be repaired in transit or faulty items can be repaired and receipts to be kept so as to be reimbursed.

ANNEXES
Annexes are not insurable and the total responsibility for them is the hiree. The cost of repairs or replacement outside the bond is to be paid by the hiree.

RESTRICTED AREAS
Our vans are not off road vans. They are strictly bitumen only other than dirt or gravel access road to camping grounds or National Parks. Vans are not to be taken across swollen creeks or rivers. Any damage caused by poor selection of road and its conditions is to be met entirely by the hiree.

Note: Extremely dirty vans on the outside will attract a fee.

BRAKING SYSTEMS & ELECTRICAL CONNECTIONS
All vans have electric brakes. An electric brake controller is supplied by the hirer if the hiree does not have electric brakes. All vans have a standard seven pin flat plug.

DRIVER QUALIFICATIONS

The hiree and/or driver must be over the age of 25years and hold a current driver’s license issued in Australia.
The hiree and/or driver must hold full comprehensive insurance for the tow vehicle.
The hiree and/or driver must insure the towing vehicle is registered according to state laws.
The hiree and/or driver agrees not to tow the van whilst under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

Hours of Trading:
Nielsens Hire & Sales are open from 9:00am - 5:30pm Monday to Friday and 9:00am - 1:00pm Saturdays.
We are closed on Sundays and Public Holidays.
